About the Founder:
June 20, 1979: (Maria Assunta) Susie Scanapieco was born in the Bronx, in New York City of Italian immigrant parents, Alessio and Vincenza.
February 3, 1983: Became a big sister to Tizia!
1984 – 1993: Attended St. Anthony’s Elementary School.
September 1993: Moved to the suburbs of Hawthorne, in Westchester County, NY and attended Westlake Public High School.
1997 – 1998: Worked during college at PepsiCo in the mailroom for TNT International Mail Services.
1998 – 1999: Worked during college at NY Presbyterian Weill Cornell Hospital as a clerk.
1999 – 2000: Worked during college at Trader Publishing as a Advertising Coordinator and Office Manager.
2000 – 2002: Worked during college at Patient Care Associates as a dispatcher and Office Manager.
Spring 2000: Participated in a study abroad program in Rome, Italy, at the American University of Rome.
May 2001: Graduated with a Mathematics degree from Manhattanville College, a quaint school nestled in Purchase, NY.
August 23, 2003: Married my Marco!
2002 – 2004: Earned Masters Degree at Mercy College in Secondary Education while teaching in the Bronx for the NY Board of Education at P.S. 83.
2004: Moved to RI.
2004 – 2006: Taught 7th and 8th grade Math in the Providence School District at Gilbert Stuart Middle School.
July 17, 2006: Became a mom to my Alessio!
July 20, 2006 - 2009: Accepted a math position at Chariho Regional School District teaching their alternative learning program, RYSE, teaching grades 7-12.
2009 – 2011: Taught special education level classes and honors level classes in the Chariho Regional High School.
2011 – 2013: Worked as the Math Specialist for the Response to Intervention in the district. Split position: Half the day at the middle school and half the day at the high school.
2013 – 2015: Teaching full time at the high school as Math Specialist for RTI.
November 2013: Started my own company, MOSCANA Mathematics LLC. and began writing Need to Know Nine: A Method of Mastering Mathematics.
March 2014: Founded a math tutoring company: the math helpER+, in Westerly, RI.
December 2014: Began writing a column in the Westerly Sun Newspaper, STEM in Stilettos.
September 2015: Hired as STEM Specialist at Chariho Regional School District.
