- Content Knowledge: Top-notch tutors selected and trained by founder/owner, Susie Scanapieco. This will guarantee that the foundations necessary for future math success are well established.
- Character: Tutors must demonstrate ultimate patience, unconditional concern for each child, infinite positive energy, humor, honesty, and an intense love of mathematics.
- Ridiculous Association is a method used to help students remember rules that require memorization.
- Language rules (root words, prefixes, suffixes, parts of speech) are taught to help students understand math vocabulary.
- Emphasis is placed on big ideas that will follow a student throughout their math education.
- Homework/school work is always our first priority. Once homework is complete, Need to Know Nine A Method of Mastering Mathematics, will be provided at their ability level to support foundational skills.
- Subvocalization is a reading method taught to students to improve their comprehension of word problems. The student will be trained to access information through their ears instead of from their eyes.
- Students will be expected to write neatly and be organized. Many mathematical errors are caused by inaccuracies, not inability. Some handwriting skills will be taught to the student, if necessary.
